It comprises 700 islands, cays and islets, and boasts the clearest water on the planet. Nassau, the capital city of the Bahamas, lies on the island of New Providence. The Bahamas is a sovereign, democratic and politically stable state modelled on the British system, with a population of approximately 400,000. The climate of the Bahamas is something that you can quickly get used to, a climate where you can have fun anytime of the day, any season. The Bahamas is one of the richest countries in the Americas with an economy based on tourism and offshore finance. Its official currency is the Bahamian Dollar, pegged to the US Dollar. The Bahamas’ Ministry of Financial Services has developed a tax residency programme to serve as a gateway to more permanent residence for High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI). This programme grants successful applicants the right to reside in the Bahamas for a period of up to 3 years and gives them a certificate of tax residence. To maintain access to these benefits, however, investors must make the Bahamas their home (or main) residence, living in the country for at least 90 days and declaring they will spend less than 183 days in any other single country. As an applicant for residency, you must be at least 18 years of age, of good character, without a criminal record, and able and willing to make the required contribution. All fees quoted are in US Dollars.

A real estate investment is an excellent consideration and legal avenue to achieving the residency status. Accelerated consideration for annual or permanent residency is given to major investors and owners of upscale Bahamian property. Spouse and children of the investor may be included in the application at no additional amount. The permanent residence permit grants the applicant and its dependents the right to live and work in Bahamas indefinitely.
