Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda is an independent Commonwealth state in the Eastern Caribbean. With some 365 beaches of clean turquoise waters, the lush tropical islands of Antigua and Barbuda are an inviting paradise and considered to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. As a result, tourism is the key driver of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generates around 60% of the island’s income, with key target markets being the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Antigua and Barbuda is a member of the United Nations, the British Commonwealth, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Organisation of American States (OAS) among many other international organisations. Holders of the Antigua and Barbuda passport enjoy visa free travel to approximately 150 countries, including the U.K. and the countries of the Schengen area.

As an applicant for citizenship, you must be at least 18 years of age, of good character, without a criminal record, and able and willing to make the required contribution. In addition to the funding of the selected investment option, additional fees are payable by each family member. All fees quoted are in US Dollars.
The fees applicable are stated in the table below. Upon submission of your application, 10% of the government fee is payable and non-refundable, with the balance due following receipt of an approval letter sent to the authorised agent who submitted the application. A government fee is charged for each family member.
All applications are subject to rigorous due diligence to ensure that only meritorious applicants are granted citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda. The due diligence fee is charged for each family member above the age of 11 years. The due diligence fee is payable upon submission of the application by the appointed agent and is non-refundable.
Each family member is required to pay the sum outlined for issuance of their passport.

The National Development Fund finances government projects, public-private partnerships, and other charitable investments in Antigua and Barbuda. Applicants must contribute a set amount to the fund according to the number of dependants they have.

Qualifying real estate projects must be approved by the Cabinet upon receiving a recommendation from the Antigua and Barbuda Investment Authority (ABIA). Applicants must commit to holding the real estate for at least 5 years and can invest individually or with a partner.

The applicant may instead choose to invest in a business that has been pre-approved by the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda. This can be done individually or with a partner. The two business investment options are:
  • A principal applicant, on his own behalf, makes an investment in an approved business of at least USD 1,500,000;
  • A minimum of 2 persons can make a joint investment in an approved business totaling at least USD 5,000,000. Each person is required to contribute at least USD 400,000 to the joint investment. An application for Citizenship by Investment may be submitted on his, her or their behalf through an agent.
A processing fee of USD 30,000 is applicable by the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) for a single applicant or a family of 4 or less.
